Indigenous 150+ is a film and conversation series, dedicated to putting Indigenous voices centre stage and is a response to the TRC Calls to Action.

Post screening conversation will be led by Saugeenaung Elder Manido Binashikwe (Audrey Kewaquom – Caskanette), Grandmother and Indigenous Knowledge Keeper, who has worked for the last 30 years for the preservation, protection and resurgence of Indigenous Ways of Being.
Lena Mahikan grew up in a familial cycle of abuse. At 15, and pregnant Lena’s mother, plagued with her own challenges kicked her out of the house. Going home never felt like an option for Lena but when her now 13-year-old, daughter, Peeka overdoses in the streets of Toronto, she is forced to return home to face her estranged mother and a past she’s tried desperately to escape. Empire of Dirt tells the story of three generations of Mahikan women who are given a second chance to come together as a family and put an end to the painful legacy that has plagued them.
