Come out for this fun filled afternoon workshop for not only the useful jamming tips and suggestions but also for the entertaining performances.

There are many good musicians in the Georgian Bay area who can play an instrument such as a guitar, bass, keyboard or drums and are looking for other musicians and a singer to get together to play or perform popular songs. Singers are also looking for musicians to back them up.  When they get together to ‘jam’, a different and entertaining variation of the song usually results, especially, when they play their part in their own unique way and add pleasing and improvised solos.

The aim of the workshop series is to provide an opportunity to get hands on experience, tips and suggestions on the musical and technical skills needed to jam with other musicians and to perform at five different levels of skill or types of events. Participation by the audience is encouraged.

If that is not enough, there will be special guests to entertain you and share their knowledge and experiences. In this workshop, the highly talented Drew McIvor will perform a few tunes. He has performed in the Georgian Bay area for many years, connecting with his audience through his honest and witty stories.

To get things started, the first workshop will focus on the singer as a solo performer or with one or two other musicians.   We will start by setting up and explaining an open mic stage configuration and inviting solo singers to perform a song or two. They will be given tips and suggestions before and after their performance.  In the second half, we will explore what is involved when we add one or two other musicians.

If you’d like to perform on stage, please bring an instrument and a couple of sheets of your song suggestions containing the lyric/chords, your name and the instrument(s) you play. If you’d like to participate in the audience, bring your voice and/or an instrument … a small or percussive one works well.

Space is limited … it is recommended you Reserve/Book your spot
